Babel Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026
Babel is a Bible reader for iPhone, Android and the web (babel-app.pages.dev). It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. We do not collect, sell or share personal data.
Data stored on your device
Your bookmarks, the versions you show or hide and their order, the layout and the reading aids you turn on are saved only on your device (in the app's settings on iPhone and Android, or in your browser's local storage on the web). They are never sent to us. If your phone's backup is on (iCloud Backup on iPhone, Google's backup on Android), the app's settings are included in that backup, which is stored in your own account and which we cannot see. Deleting the app, or clearing the site's data in your browser, removes them.
Network requests
- Bible text. The Japanese 口語訳 (1955) text is loaded from the YouVersion Platform when you open a passage. The request goes through our server at babel-app.pages.dev, which adds our API key and forwards only the passage requested. YouVersion receives the request from our server, not from your device, and no information about you is included.
- Hosting. The web app and the server are hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver the pages and protect the service; see Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not keep logs of these requests.
- Fonts (web only). The web app loads Hebrew and Greek fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address; see Google's privacy policy.
Sharing
When you share a passage, the system share sheet sends it only to the app or person you choose. Babel does not see what you share or with whom.
Children
Babel collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
